Privacy Policy
Macedon Ranges Health (MRH) is strongly committed to protecting resident, client and staff rights to privacy and confidentiality. This policy applies to both personal and health information held by MRH as well as confidential organisational information. All information will be dealt with in a uniform manner and stored appropriately.
Requests for access to confidential information will be processed in line with current legislation. All requests must be in writing to the Privacy Officer. The appropriate consent will be sought and obtained prior to any release of information.
MRH has an appointed Privacy Officer who is available to answer any queries from residents/clients and/or their advocates. If concerns are raised that personal information has not been handled appropriately, the Privacy Officer should be contacted and an investigation commenced. The Privacy Officer is the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O).
Staff are made aware of the necessity for complete confidentiality both within our facilities and externally and sign a Confidentiality Agreement at the time of their employment with MRH. All students, volunteers and external contractors also sign a Confidentiality Agreement. MRH includes confidentiality and privacy principles in the staff orientation program, and ensures that they are reinforced in ongoing staff development programs.
All information which comes into the possession of an employee, external service provider, student or volunteer relating to the business of the employer in all aspects of that business, must be treated as confidential, unless it is the employee's responsibility to use that information for or on behalf of the employer. This includes all information which is guarded by or subject to copyright or trademarks or other legal rights, registered or otherwise. This continues to apply after employees, students, volunteers or external service providers have left MRH
