d on the 13th July. Special speakers on the day were the Patron of Men’s Sheds, Tim Mathieson, and Gary Green from the Australian Men’s Shed Association. The ribbon cutters on the day were Mrs Ruth Smith whose husband was one of the original members of the shed, and Mr John Power.
About 130 people stood in the shed to hear about the impact that this enormous community movement has had on men. It is estimated that 2,000 suicides a year have been avoided because of contact that men have had with their Sheds. At this stage 580 sheds exist with three or four sheds being started each week in Australia.
